 PATRICIA GUNNING HAS SPENT HER CAREER FIGHTING FOR JUSTICE IN COURTS ACROSS NEW YORK STATE

Before entering private practice, Gunning served as the Special Prosecutor and Inspector General for the New York State Justice Center. A 2002 graduate of St. John’s Law School, she also served as the Chief of the Special Victims Unit with the Rockland County District Attorney’s office, managing all phases of the prosecution of cases involving the abuse and neglect of individuals with mental and physical disabilities, the physical and sexual abuse of children and the elderly, as well as victims of domestic violence. In addition, she conducted training on issues related to special victims for law enforcement officials, medical professionals and local community groups. From 2003 to 2008, Gunning was an Assistant District Attorney for Kings County, where she served in a trial unit and in the Crimes Against Children Bureau. In each of these positions, she managed cases involving the abuse of individuals with disabilities, and worked closely with law enforcement and crime victims at all stages of the criminal prosecution. Having handled many high profile cases, she is frequently quoted in the national news media on cases involving domestic violence, child physical and sexual abuse, the abuse of vulnerable individuals and workplace harassment.

Gunning has received extensive training in criminal and workplace investigations, is certified in Best Practices Forensic Interviewing of Children and Forensic Best Practices Interviewing of Vulnerable Persons, a course she helped develop.

With more than 17 years experience in courtrooms across New York and a distinguished career in public service, Patricia Gunning now uses this experience to effectively represents clients in navigating complex and difficult legal situations.
